2025 Regattas
National Yacht Club is excited to be hosting various fleets for
regattas this summer! We look forward to welcoming sailors from around the lake to our NYC Open Regatta in August as well as hosting the 2.4mR fleet for a series of events from June to September.
NYC Racing
With a history steeped in competitive racing on Lake Ontario, National Yacht Club offers a comprehensive, three night midweek racing program for all skill levels.
Tuesday - Shark & PHRF White Sail and PHRF Spinnaker Fleets
Wednesday - PHRF Spinnaker Fleet
Thursday - Novice Racers/Beginners, Double/Single Handed & Women’s Fleet (male crew welcome)
Crew Bank
Introductory Crew and Crew members are encouraged to participate in our popular racing Crew Bank and get placed on mid-week racing boats. With the Crew Bank system you learn to race and/or sharpen your sailing skills. The Crew Bank helps crew members participate in mid-week races and this helps boat owners build teams that last from season to season.

PHRF Certificates
If you are participating in club racing and many events on the lake, including the AMHEN series, you need to have a valid
PHRF-LO certificate for 2025. See the
PHRF how-to guide for certificate holders.
- Renewals: If you are renewing a certificate from 2024 you will have been invoiced through the club, and a new certificate will be available for you to download from the PHRF website.
- Updates: If you have changes to sails, boat, or propulsion, then updated measurements will need to be provided and the certificate updated.
- New boat: If you have a new boat, you will need to apply for a new PHRF certificate. Note, if the class of boat has not been previously assigned a handicap under PHRF-LO then an initial assessment will need to be made and agreed upon. Please allow sufficient time for this
If you need to update your certificate or have a new one issued, please contact Joe Greenwood and Scott Lyons, Club Handicappers at
[email protected] to arrange to take the required measurements.
Volunteer
NYC’s racing program would not be possible without the support of dedicated volunteers. Please consider signing up to help with a weeknight race. No experience required, all training will be provided. This is a great way to see keelboat racing up close and counts toward club hours.
