2024 Regattas

National Yacht Club is excited to be hosting a full roster of regattas this summer! In addition to our annual events, we are looking forward to welcoming Shark sailors back to NYC for the Shark Gold Cup on August 10-11 and are very excited to be hosting the J/80 fleet for their North American Championships on October 4-6.

NYC Racing

With a history steeped in competitive racing on Lake Ontario, National Yacht Club offers a comprehensive, three night midweek racing program for all skill levels.
Tuesday - Shark & PHRF White Sail and PHRF Spinnaker Fleets
Wednesday - PHRF Spinnaker Fleet
Thursday - Novice Racers/Beginners, Double/Single Handed & Women’s Fleet (male crew welcome)

Crew Bank

Introductory Crew and Crew members are encouraged to participate in our popular racing Crew Bank and get placed on mid-week racing boats. With the Crew Bank system you learn to race and/or sharpen your sailing skills. The Crew Bank helps crew members participate in mid-week races and this helps boat owners build teams that last from season to season. Find out more!

Skipper Information

Registration
One design or handicap racing - Once a week or multiple nights. We have lots of options! Skippers who are interested in registering their boat for Mid-Week Racing or Round-the-Island Races please visit our registration page. Participants from other clubs are welcome! Visit our registration page.

PHRF Certificates
All boat owners participating in the NYC Midweek Racing program must have a valid PHRF certificate or one-design measurement certificate for their boat. If you are new to PHRF or have purchased new sails you will need to have them measured. Please contact the club handicapper, at [email protected] to make arrangements to have your sails measured. An annual fee of $50 + HST will be billed to your account at the end of March. If you are no longer racing your boat, you will need to notify the Sailing Office so that you will not be billed for the certificate. PHRF-Lake Ontario no longer mails out renewal certificates, instead they are available for printing from the PHRF Lake Ontario website, www.phrf-lo.org

Volunteer

NYC’s racing program would not be possible without the support of dedicated volunteers. Please consider signing up to help with a weeknight race. No experience required, all training will be provided. This is a great way to see keelboat racing up close and counts toward club hours. Find out more about volunteering here.
