NYC's Boat-Share Program
NYC's Boat4U Program was created for sailors who do not currently own a boat to have access to a sailing vessel on a time-sharing basis with other members of NYC. Whether you’re a new sailor working towards getting your own vessel in the future or an old hand in search of a part time boat, this is a great way to “mess about in a boat” for the sailing season!
Vessel Information
- 1991 Catalina 25 named ‘Away’
- Owned and moored at NYC – typically on a swing mooring
- Equipment includes – mainsail and furling genoa (no spinnaker), 9.9 HP outboard and all safety equipment required by Transport Canada
2024 Program Structure
Applicants can join the Boat4U program as a Full Season Member (60 points), Half Season Member (30 points) or Quarter Season Member (15 points). Each Boat4U member can then apply their designated points to book our boat for Day timeslots (9:30 AM – 3:30 PM) worth 2 points or Evening timeslots (4:00 PM – 10:00 PM) worth 3 points, Monday through Friday. This format allows Boat4U members flexibility to book sailing times based on what works best for their schedule! The scheduled 2024 Boat4U season is from May 13, 2024 to September 30, 2023 (21 weeks).
Booking of time-slots will be managed through an online booking form and will be accessible to members on the following dates:
- Full Season Booking Access - First Half of Points - Monday, March 25, 2024 @ 10:00 AM
- Full Season Booking Access - Second Half of Points - Tuesday, March 26, 2024 @ 10:00 AM
- Partial Season Booking Access - Tuesday, April 2, 2024 @ 10:00 AM
Boat4U members are permitted to change their bookings during the season, however bookings will be locked on the Friday of the preceding week (available spots excluded). Members of the Boat4U Program are permitted to trade timeslots amongst each other and combine points, with written notice. Boat4U members can apply to participate in Club racing or solo sailing during their assigned timeslot.
